Learn Composting means bad smell.

Odor is a result of fermentation.  Fermentation occurs when there is a lack of oxygen.  Thermophilic composting systems that maintain adequate oxygen levels throughout do not create bad odors.   Aerobic bacteria thrive in conditions where oxygen is present and actually prevent bad odors.   Anaerobic bacteria thrive in conditions where there is limited oxygen and it this process which causes foul odors.

Traditionally, composting has been conducted in open windrows without forced aeration and therefore the waste material must be agitated and turned mechanically in order to introduce oxygen.   However, pockets of anaerobic bacteria exist within the windrow and when the material is turned; often times biogas is released into the atmosphere.   It is this gas which produces the odor.

BioSystem Solution has created the industry’s most robust, customizable and scalable solutions for both rural and urban settings.   These systems are 100% odor free, do not attract vectors and occupy a very small footprint.

Composting cannot be done in urban environments.

When composting is done utilizing old-fashioned open windrows, large acres of valuable land are required for the operation.   Furthermore, when composting this way, dust and odor become prevalent, insects and rodents are attracted and there is also the risk of fire.   This has created the notion that composting cannot be done in populated areas.

BioSystem Solution has created the industry’s most robust, customizable and scalable solutions for both rural and urban settings.   These systems are 100% odor free, do not attract vectors and occupy a very small footprint.

Composting takes a long time and is labor intensive.

This is no longer the case.    BioSystem Solutions has created state-of-the-art in-vessel composting solutions.  These systems are the most efficient in the industry.   In fact, they are so efficient that what could take a year in nature alone, can be accomplished in as little as 14 days.   Utilizing patented technology in an automated continuous-flow process, the output is certifiably consistent, stable premium compost.

We don’t need that much compost.

The facts are just the opposite.   We desperately need well-processed compost because there are so many useful applications for it.   Above all, nutrients need to be placed back into the soils they came from.   This minimizes the use of harmful chemical fertilizers, helps conserve water, enables soils to resist erosion and enhances soil fertility.   Even if your organization can’t use all or a part of the compost produced, there is a significant revenue opportunity due to markets like the organic food industry that are starving for a consistent source of quality compost.
